FACES OF A BRAND

***Monday March 29th, 2010***

Please say hello to the face of "Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner Here"!

You'll be seeing this little face, as well as some altered renditions of it, in the clothing line... soon to be coming. My mother drew her back when I was a little one and is a sketch of my face. So I expect she'll bring us luck!

Book Talk

**Sat. March 27, 2010**

Every week Lone and I go to our local library and take out a bunch of books to read before bed. Recently, it seems we've been coming home with books written by celebrities, such as Madonna and Jamie Lee Curtis. Children's books are such a great way to bond with a child, I know Lone loves our evenings of reading, to write a children's book must be a wonderful experience for a parent. Even the rich and famous want to get it on the thrill!

Speaking of children's books, my lovely friend Liz Collard has published her very first children's book. It is called "Jeremiah, The Schoolhouse Dog", and it is a wonderful book to add to a child's collection.

It is about a mischievous dog and is based on Liz' own experiences as both a teacher and of course, the owner of an unruly dog!

I find that the illustrations in this book are not only unique, but also very
descriptive and full of detail.
If you would like the opportunity to own this sweet story, you can purchase it here.
I believe it is so important that we support talented new authors and I look
forward to reading Liz' next adventure.

PINK NAILS AND BABIES

**Sat. 20th 2010**

OMG Look at this shot from Jessica Claire's website www.jessicaclaire.net. I get so many great decorating and photography ideas from her. She has done some amazing weddings and kids birthday parties! By the way saw my little one on the ultrasound yesterday. She was nibbling her fingers!

HMMMMM.....
For the past two days, Lone has been bugging me to paint her nails pink. Patience, her best friend currently has pink nails, as does her little brother Lief. So Lone really, really wanted pink nails. Not being a nail polish kind of girl myself, I was kind of avoiding it. Today however, she cornered me, nail polish bottle in hand (one of my mother's old bottles, as I have none) and we did the deed.

She's had this serious face on ever since and it's creepy how her hands look like a woman's now.
It's a girlie kind of overcast day.....

Flower Girl

**Thurs March 18th 2010**

The other day I met a woman and we started talking about little flower girl's dresses for weddings.

The woman's daughter is in a wedding this fall and Lone is in her aunty Janet's wedding this summer.

She told me about a site that she bought her daughter a dress from that was well priced and I told her about Etsy! While a good price is great, ETSY showcases clothing that to me are works of art and worth every penny! I am not sure if I will indeed attempt to make Lone a dress for the wedding or not, (i'd like to). If I do not, I'll be picking one from a designer like Haute Chocolate Girl One of these darling, little one of a kind numbers, are the kind of thing that gets passed onto younger siblings and is then put away and kept safe until your little girl has her own little party goer.

BUTTON BANDS

**Wed 17th, 2010

I've done well with these button bands and they are really easy to make and a great way to use up stashes, jars and sewing baskets full of old buttons. If your child is old enough to handle a needle, they're also great fun for craft projects and make great gifts that are much more personal for children's birthday loot bags.

Here is how to make them:

You will need small and medium sized buttons, black skirt elastic, black embroidery floss and a sewing needle (with a hole that is wide enough to fit the floss through).

Gather your buttons and decide if you are going to have a color theme.

Cut the skirt elastic to a size that will comfortably fit around your wrist, giving an extra few inches to attach it.

Taking the black embroidery floss and needle, sew the ends of the elastic together, overlapping the ends so that you can stitch around all four edges. This will make it strong.

Stick the needle through the under side of the elastic band and up through one of your button’s holes, then through another button hole and back down through the elastic. Repeat.

Under and overlap your buttons. This way the band will be tighter and the elastic beneath will not show through. I also suggest using all of the button holes, to strengthen the hold.

Whenever you run out of embroidery floss knot it off tightly, under the elastic. Try to use longer pieces of floss to avoid too many knots and pay attention so that you don’t get your floss caught on other buttons.

There are so many unique bands you can make. You can layer tiny buttons in bigger buttons, attaching funny or silly buttons and even add unique beads or charms to your button band.

Have fun!

A Few more...

Fri 12th, 2010
Love the markets!
Just kidding...so NOT inspiring
This one of two pieces that I really wanted but could not afford. They are so well priced, but still out of my budget. The silver work is incredible in Mexico. Think it inspired my father who is a silversmith.
I thought this was so much fun and something I may try to attempt.

A few more inspiring things from my trip!

Home Time

If you were in the Denver airport on Tuesday, you may have noticed me. I was the one with the huge bunch of brightly coloured, paper flowers...and the miserable toddler. But it was all worth it. The trip was a success for my dad, Lone and I got some sun and I brought back fun stuff and tons of inspiration.
Lone's birthday in September will be a fiesta theme and to go with the party, I brought back fans, flowers, mermaids, wobbely heads and of course pinatas! I bought the pinatas from Edward Patton's shop LALO MORALES, http://www.banderasnews.com/shopping/lalo-morales.htm. Edward, who moved to mexico five years ago is none other than Freddy Krueger, from A Nightmare on Elm Street. When we met, he was just preparing to board a plane to Amsterdam and then New York for a few conventions. What a life! Anyway his beautiful paintings and shop reflect the happiness he feels.

Here are a couple of the things that I saw that really inspired me!
My favorite girl!

The stained glass pictures were placed into the backs of chairs. Sadly, the artist died last year, but the restaurant that owns them is planning to sell them this summer.

Love the little animals! I brought back a few
